I started my career in process engineering back in New Zealand, and now I’ve been fortunate enough to relocate to Australia through Verbrec.
The move has been incredible for professional development because I’ve been able to see things in a new setting, solve new problems and work with people who give me different insights.
In my career, I started out learning the ropes, picking up little things here and there, but as I’ve grown, I’ve ended up taking on bigger roles with greater challenges. To me, that’s what evolution is: looking back at where you’ve been and asking, “How can I improve for tomorrow and be the best version of myself?”
At Verbrec, I find myself surrounded by some of the best people in the industry, so it’s exciting to soak it all up. Not only are they great at their jobs, but they’re so generous with their time.
For someone still in the early stages of my career, it’s inspiring to see how they do what they do. One day, maybe I’ll be that person who can know the answer before even starting the calculation.
The graduate program has been a big part of that too, with seminars, meetings and the option of a mentor to learn from.
It’s such an exciting time to be in the energy industry. With so many changes, we have to adapt quickly. It’s a great time to think outside the box, be innovative and bring your best work, because we can really help make a difference for the environment and future generations.
