Viva Energy’s Pinkenba bitumen plant is situated on reclaimed land where high levels of short- and long-term settlement have occurred over the years. This has led to structural deformation to some of the pipe rack.
Verbrec assessed the integrity of the existing pipe rack steel and concrete structure and foundations to determine if they were safe for adequate operation. SPACE GASS and other finite element software packages were used to simulate the displacements and replicate the deformations noted.
We completed detailed design works to strengthen the existing structure, along with temporary support structures to safely allow short-term operation to continue and permanent remedial works of the pipe rack.
We further completed on-site inspections of the existing structure, as well as completing inspections during steel/concrete fabrication, installation and construction works.
