Australia Pacific LNG’s Main Pipeline System (MPS) and High Pressure Gas Network (HPGN), operated by Origin, supply gas to the LNG export facility at Curtis Island in Gladstone, Queensland.
In early 2017, Verbrec transitioned from working in an owner’s engineer capacity to providing the concept, front-end and detailed design engineering services to Australia Pacific LNG.
The Globe Valve Bypass solution required us to design modifications to the MPS and HPGN pipeline facilities to optimise de- and re-pressurisation times, while maintaining process conditions within the safe operating envelope and controlling vibration within acceptable limits.
The project was unique in its requirement for extensive process simulations (HYSYS) and the adoption of detailed assessments against specific vibration criteria. Together with Xodus/Wood (vibration consultants), we provided multi-discipline engineering services to Australia Pacific LNG.
Verbrec delivered the final engineering works packages in late July 2018 and site installation work remains underway. Our project scope included as-built and construction support.
