WICET Process Control System

Project Summary

Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal is owned by a consortium of Australian and international resources.
The terminal provides an export capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum with a total expansion capacity of up to 120 million tonnes per annum.
Verbrec was engaged By WICET to design and deliver the terminal-wide Process Control System (PCS), vertically integrated into WICET’s operating model.

SOLUTION

Verbrec delivered the design configuration, implementation and commissioning of a Rockwell Control System (ControlLogix PLCs and FactoryTalk View SCADA) integrated into a Honeywell Manufacturing Execution System (MES) layer.
The solution controls, tracks and schedules the delivery of coal through the terminal (Rail to Port).
Vebrec’s solution also included an innovative virtual simulation platform that was used for code verification, regression testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) throughout the various
phases of the project.
The simulation platform was deployed to site to be used for scenario verification, streamlined start-up and operator training.
