I am Chilean, born in Santiago with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design. 7 years ago, my family and I decided to call Australia our new home and since then I’ve been working on projects related to energy and infrastructure.
Back in 2020, I had the opportunity to join Verbrec in Brisbane as one of the designers for the Batangas Project. Since then, I have been involved in different projects creating 3D models for piping, mechanical, and equipment and developing drawings for construction. Working closely with other designers and engineers.
There are such a variety of work and people here in the headquarters. What I like the most about working here is the work environment, being part of the design team is great. It is a strong-knit team that supports each other.
My day at Verbrec can be described as variated and fun. Variated because I have worked on many different challenges as well as different tasks. One of them is mentoring junior team members which is something I’m enjoying a lot.
Fun because I get to work with many different colleagues – including many great intellectuals, experienced, and yet humble people who have become good colleagues and friends.
One of the latest achievements was being part of this complex project (Batangas), working as a team they let us implement a system to deliver more than 300 isometrics and 100 layouts for construction, in a very tight schedule.
Lesson learned…
…Working in diverse projects within my team has given me the opportunity to understand the strengths and weakness of each other to best address the task at hand and that not everyone may do the same type of work or bring the same knowledge, yet the diversity of the group is the key strength.
Working here has given me …
…the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. I am passionate to contribute and work in projects that will benefit our community. I’m constantly gaining new skills in technology and industry wise. This diverse environment has challenged us and created a dynamic environment to grow professionally and personally.
Balance for me is incredibly important because I make sure I have time to spend with my family. My family and I live on the Sunny Coast so for me work flexibility is key. I am so lucky my employer offers me that.
